As results from today's intervention of Danilo in this conference, Italy has prepared a new draft resolution on capital punishment to present on the UNGA. Now Italy tries to collect signatures of member states under this draft. The deadline to present the draft resolution with the signatures is tomorrow afternoon. The debates and voting on this draft in the Third Committee (human rights), where all the work is going, will take place appr. in the middle of next week.

The proposal of an urgent action is following: to send faxes directely to the respective missions at the UN from the respective countries, but not from Italy.

In our case, we (you) should send fax, requesting Ukrainian delegation to support the Italian initiative and sign its draft motion. The draft motion in English is hereby in the conference, text No. 852. The list of faxes of all the missions is also here, text No. 700. (the Ukrainian mission 1-212-2885361).

But to do it we have almost no time, some hours only, even taking in consideration the time difference between Kiev and New York.
