PALME |
Now there is not so much to add to the analysis of the Marcia delle Palme. In Bohemia the is the Christian tradition for the last Sunday before Easters, which has the same origin as everywhere, to bring to the church the small branches of the tree willow (Salix), which are becoming to be in flower in that time, and consecrate it. That·s why it is Kvetna nedele - it means "Flower Sunday". The only problem of translating Marcia delle Palme into Czech was that the name of this day was never connected to any march and that it is not always possible to create adjective from the name in Czech. As you know we solve it, calling this march "Pochod na Kvetnou nedeli", which means March of the Flower Sunday. |
