Mr. Chope Paljor Tsering, representative of His Highness the Dalai Lama for Baltic, Central and South Eastern Europe, visited Prague last week. He came to solve certain internal problems of the Czech supporting groups of Tibet and to make several official meetings. He met the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alexander Vondra, who expressed full support of the Czech Government to the Tibetan Government in exile.
Mr. Tsering was in everyday contact with us and he asked us to help him to meet some Members of Parliament in order to inform them about the Parliamentary Commitees on Tibet which already exist in several Parliaments of the world and to ask Czech deputies to create a similar one. Given that last week was the "travelling week" in the Czech Parliament, we were able to introduce to Mr. Tsering only one deputy, Mr. Andrej Gjuric, member of the Commitee for Social Policy and Health of the Parliament, who cooperates closely with the Radical Party for two years, mainly on the Bosnian issue. Mr. Gjuric accepted the invitation of Mr. Tsering to the 2nd Session of the Parliamentary Commitees on Tibet, which will be held from 26. till 29th of May 1995 in Vilnjus and he promised to do whatever possible in creating such a Commitee in the Czech Parliament.
