IN THE TRAGEDY OF EX-YUGOSLAVIA FINALLY A LITTLE GOOD NEWS: THE RESIGNATION OF LORS OWEN

Bruxelles, May 31 1995. For all those who for the past three years have had to bear first with astonishment, then with dismay and finally with disgust the reincarnation of Chamberlain and Daladier, the news of the resignation of Lord Owen can only be good news. The fact that the one who has sold out the honor of Europe, that has been an accomplice of all the accords' violations, the alibi of the deliberate politics of aggression in the Belgrade regime and of its Pale's allies, can only reinforce the urgency of a radically different approach of the European Union toward the ex-Yugoslavia. It should be an approach that, as a starting point acknowledges in this conflict a resolute and determined enemy of human rights, civilization and peace: Milosevic' regime.

We can at last hope that there won't be any longer a mediator of the European Union, but an European politics; a type of politics that finally differentiates between the attacked and the attackers, between civilians systematically bombarded and war criminals.
