Dear friends,
together with the treasurer, we've settled some of the next steps to take in regard of the membership campaign for 1996.
1. In the following days, a letter addressed to the members for 1994 and 1995 should be sent.
2. Towards either November 15th or the end of that month, a big leaflet [volantone] should be sent, given the financial difficulties at present we face (I mean willing the financial means will allow us to do such a volantone).
In order both to allow ourselves to distribute that "volantone" in various languages to a large address-book, and also to realize something which already could "represent" the 96's Radical Party, it is very important starting from now on the membership campaign, seeking first of all high-qualified memberships which can result as prominent examples in supporting our political struggles.
The volantone should contain both: a part of it introducing our campaigns (Abolition of the death penalty, International criminal court, Freedom for Tibet, Democracy for Cuba, the question about former Yugoslavia, Antiprohitionism on drugs, International language, European federalism, etc...); and a description of these campaigns, as well as the "transnational and transparty" design, through the visual representation of about fifty well-known personalities.
At present - of course except for our historical visages like Marco Pannella and Emma Bonino -, I think we can count on the faces of:
- Rinchen DARLHO (representative of HH the Dalai Lama for Americas);
- Michael van WALT van PRAAG (UNPO Secretary general);
- Francisco CHAVIANO (President of the National council for human rights in Cuba);
- Elizardo SANCHEZ (dissident, Cuba);
- Aida VALDEZ (dissident, Cuba);
- a dozen out of Italian MPs;
These were among others who, in my opinion, could easily confirm their subscription:
- RADIM ZADE (deputy president of the Parliament of Azerbagian);
- Sergej GOLOVATYI (minister for justice, Ukraine);
- Jean-François HORY (MEP, RP president);
- Igor BEZRUKOV (attorney-at-law, member of Presidential committee for pardon, Russia);
- Leonora FULANI (leader of the Independence Party (USA);
- Joao DE MENEZES FERREIRA (attorney-at-law, outgoing MP, Portugal);
- ... STELTEN, Nobel prize graduated (Germany);
- Fernando SAVATER (writer, philosopher, Spain);
- Mairead CORRIGHAN (Peace Nobel Prize);
- the former sentenced to death in the state of NY;
- Janiset PRIVERO (secretary of the "directorio revolucionario cubano");
- Piero VERNI (president of Italia-Tibet);
- MEPs;
- Bosniak ministers and MPs;
- MPs from Italy, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, Russia, Kosova, Macedonia, Croatia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Argentina, and so on...;
- abolitionists;
- antiprohibitionists;
- ...
Although I've maybe forgot someone, that list is far from representing a possible Radical party for 1996. Thus it matters to all of us, to find out ideas on the basis of the above-mentioned criterias, and then to "assault" new and old probable individual members...
For each membership, a photo-picture should immediatly be found (if possible a nice one!)
Meanwhile some hypothesis should be made from the various conversant main offices of the party (New York, Kiev/Moskow, Budapest/Zagreb/Sofia, Rome, Brussels, Madrid) about whether mailing to members for 93+94+95 only, or 93+94+95+address-book selected on the basis of our campaigns, etc.), and then send it to Danilo, including your estimates regarding the cost of sending it from the places you are working in.
All the best and good work,
Olivier
