DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
April 26, 1996
Dear,
As you have been informed by the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama ill your region, the Second International Conference of Tibet support Groups, organised by the department on behalf of the Government of Tibet in exile in cooperation with the FriedrichNaumann Foundation, will be held from 15 to 17 June in Bonn, Germany. It is our great pleasure to formally invite you to attend this important conference.
Because of your consistent support for the Tibetan struggle, your participation in the conference is vital to ensure the success of the meeting.
We enclose here a copy of the programme of the conference, workshop guidelines and workshop group preference form, which I hope will give you a fairly comprehensive idea of the topics under discussion at the conference. Kindly tick the workshop you would like to attend on the form enclosed and mail it to us not later than May 15. The form can be faxed or E-mailed on any of the numbers given on it.
The first international conference of Tibet Support Groups took place in Dharamsala in 1990. Since then much has happened to the worldwide Tibet movement which makes us all proud. But much needs to be done. In view of China's hardening position in Tibet, the struggle ahead of us is long and hard. As such we are calling this conference of our friends and supporters to discuss and exchange ideas on how best all of us could confront and deal with the worsening situation of occupied Tibet, and to ensure that justice is done to the Tibetan people.
The accomodation for all the participants have been reserved at Hotel Scandic Crown, Berliner Freiheit 2, 5311 Bonn. Tel: +49-228-2698-0, Fax: +49-228-2698-222. Accomodation will be shared, two persons in a room. If you have a preference in sharing a room with a particular person, please let us know.
If you think you are to face visa problems, particularly for those in countries in eastern Europe, including Russia and countries formerly part of the former Soviet Union, please send copies of
your passeport and passeport size photos (at least 4) to Mrs. R. Frank, for her assistance and guidance. Her address is Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung, Geschaftsstelle, 53637 Konigswinter, Germany. Her telephone number is 0 22 23/701 0. Her fax number is 0 22 23/70 11 88. The above information should reach Mrs. Frank by May 10, 1996. All the delegates are suggested to apply for tourist visa to avoid unnecessary complications.
