Tibet: convocation for the meeting in Brussels

Brussels, 17 October 1996

Dear Friends of Tibet,

You will remember that the Second TSG Conference in Bonn approved the suggestion that 10 March 1997 demonstration should be organised in Geneva before the United Nations.

Currently we are proposing a participation by at least 15,000 people to make Geneva demonstration another successful event for the freedom of Tibet. And we do not have much time to organise it: in about 20 weeks it will be 10 March 1997, the day when the United Nations Commission on Human Rights will start its session for 1997 in Geneva.

During a recent meeting with Mrs Chyngdak Koren in Geneva, we decided it would be very opportune to first organise a meeting to co-ordinate our efforts for this demonstration. Around 40 people (list enclosed), including four Representatives of the Tibetan Government in Exile, those people who participated in last year's organization, and few other people are being invited.

The preparatory meeting will take place in Brussels at the European Parliament on forthcoming 16 and 17 November. It will start at 10:00 am on Saturday and finish Sunday around 5:00 pm.

We hope you will be able to participate.

Kind regards,

Olivier Dupuis

PS. I would appreciate it if you would confirm your presence as soon as possible by calling Paolo Atzori or Tiziana Falletti (Tel. 32-2-230.41.21 or 284.71.98 - Fax. 230.36.70 - 284.91.98) They will also assist you with hotel reservations.
