Dear Mr Lensi
Thank you for your email message.
Yes, the Australia Tibet Council does receive your informative 'Freedom for Tibet-Deomcracy for China fax' (albeit via email!). So we are very aware of the excellent campaigns that you have underway. We are certainly interested in promoting them in Australia. Indeed last March 10, several cities in Australia flew the Tibetan flag. We are encouraging our state branches to seek support from mayors/cities to fly the Tibetan flag next March 10. I will endeavour to keep you informed of how many flags are to fly in Australia.
We will also be organising events throughout the country on December 10 promoting the case of the Panchen Lama. We have not been distributing your postcards, although I was aware of them from the Bonn Conference. Perhaps you could let me know how much it would cost to obtain bulk copies.
We have not as yet been active in seeking MP's signatures supporting a meeting between the UN Secretary General and the Dalai Lama, nor the campaign supporting Wei Jingsheng's Nobel Peace Prize nomination. I hope we may be able to do so next year. During the Dalai Lama's recent visit to Australia, we did raise the issue of His Holiness meeting Boutros Ghali with our government, but need to do some more work in this area.
Thank you once again. I hope that I can report on our successes in the near future.
Yours sincerely
Stewart Johnson
