Thank you very much for your Email.

Yes! I do get the your weekly bullitin through WTN from Canada and I read them with great interest. Keep up the good work.

I am interested in getting a copy of your "Appeal of MP's to General Secretary of UN to receive as soon as possible H. H. The Dalai Lama.". I could canvas all our MP's to sign it. This year for the first time we had new form of election in October 1996 and now we have 120 MP's under the new MMP system. Currently we have a caretaker Government lead by the New Zealand National Party. Since October verious parties are talking to form a coalation Government and the parliament will be open on 12th December 1996, I hope by then we know who is going to govern us for the next three years. We have about 18 members in the Parliamentary Lobby Group for Tibet which I established about three years ago and I am happy to say most of them got back in during October election.

I am also interested in getting some advice on how you went about getting the Mayors to hoist the Tibetan Flag on the city council buildings on 10 March 1996 and I know you are doing the same next year. We would like to do the same here in New Zealand in 1997.

We will be holding a vigil outside the Chinese Embassy and Consoulate buildings on 10th December 1996 and displaying the only photograph of His Holiness Panchen Rimpoche (Ganden Chogyal Nima) and handing out leaflets about the H.H. Pachen Rimpoche.

During the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to New Zealand in September 1996. The Freinds of Tibet (NZ) started a petition which was worded as follows " We the under signed asks the New Zealand Government to fecilitate negociations between the Peoples Republic of China and His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Representatives, without any preconditions, to find a peaceful solution for the future of Tibet". so far we have collected about 4000 signatures I'll keep you informed of the progress.
