EP/Tunisia: letter to James Moorhouse

A l'attention de M. James Moorhouse

Député au Parlement européen

Brussels, July 4, 1997

Dear James,

during the last session in Strasburg a seminar was organized on the question of Human Rights in Tunisia. Despite the faxt that few personalities from Tunisia were allowed to participate, it was quite interesting. Especially, the informations and analysis given by Khemaïs Chammari were very substancial.

After the meeting, the tunisian authorities have reacted in an incredibile way, accusing Mr Chammari to be a traitor.

More generally, the quite positive economical situation of Tunisia seems to me to be a reason more to firmly ask for substancial changes in the fields of human rights and democratization.

For that reason I think it would be very important if the European Parliament could adopt a resolution during the next session.

With the hope we could count on your support,

Sincerely yours,

Olivier Dupuis
