Subject: Re: Transnacia Radikala Partio

Dear Mr. Dupuis,

It was a pleasant surprise for me to receive your e-mail. I guess it has been about 1 year since we have communicated last, although I was in touch with Mr. Busdachin and Perduca more frequently.

Regarding the membership of the NGO Coalition for International Auxiliary Language, our understanding was that only NGOs of UN is eligible as its member, because the target is UN. Therefore, I would suggest that the Transnational Radical Party be listed as a founding member, without listing ERA separately. In the meantime, we are campaigning for more memberships among the UN/NGOs.

As we have discussed during the founding seminar, UEA (Mark Fettes) has volunteered to be the editor of the CIAL Newsletter. Our tentative plan for the Newsletter is that 1) it will be short letter (4-8 pages), 2) 4 times a year, 3) in English (50%), French(30%), and summary in Esperanto (20%), and 4) will be sent to all the government representatives to UN (about 150?), and about 200-300 selected major NGOs of UN. Of course we will keep TRP/New York informed of the progress. If TRP can help mail the newsletters, it will be very helpful. If not, we will use our New York Office to mail them.

The main purpose of the CIAL Newsletter is to convince UN that it has language problem and it needs an International Auxialiary Language.

I was in New York in May to follow up Mr. Busdachin's letter to the NGO Committee, requesting that the committee recomends that "International Auxiliary Language" be an agenda item of the forthcoming ECOSOC Substantive meeting. I talked to most of the committee members separately and informally. Of the 19 NGO Committee members (government representatives), about 11 members said they will favorably consider if and when the matter is discussed. Unfortunately, the NGO Committee did not have time to discuss Mr. Busdachin's letter. If they decided to discuss the letter in their next meeting (January?, May?) I will go to New York again.

In the mean time, I have suggested the Chinese government to write a letter to UN Secretary General, asking ECOSOC to place "International Auxiliary Language" on its forthcoming meting agenda, and I have asked for a rendezvous with the Chinee Foreign Minister in Beijing, China, to prezent my idea. China Esperanto Leagu is working on the matter and I am waiting for the reply.

We would very much like to see that a seminar at the European Parliament is held. Mr. Hans Erasmus wrote to me that the first attempt was not sucuessful and another attempt is being made. I hope the idea, which you and we have together developed, will be realized.

In any case, we will be happy to work together with TRP regarding the matter on the international auxiliary language.

I will be in Rotterdam in late March next year. It would be my pleasure if I have a chance to see you during the period.

Sincerely Yours,

LEE Chong-Yeong
