Thank you for your letter concerning the International Criminal Court.

I can inform you that Denmark works very actively for the establishment of the court and that it is our intention that the court shall become an effective legal body with its own authority to trial and to sentence gross and systematical international crimes.

It is therefore of great importance that a diplomatic conference will take place in 1998 to adopt a statute of the said court and I fully support it.

of course it is also the Danish attitude that all states ought to comply with their obligations to cooperate with the International Tribunals concerning ex-Yugoslavia and Rwanda

to make sure that the war criminals are brought to trial.

I can assure you that Denmark supports your efforts to let justice to be done.
