Dear Mrs Samdup
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Now I clearly understand that there is something unclear and a real misunderstanding.
I just would like to try to point out where the misunderstandg may be.
The debate on the satyagraha that we launched on the China/Tibet fax is not, nor was never meant for non-tibetan contributions. It was openly adddressed to anybody that wished to add his analisys or proposals on the Satyagraha movement. Therefore some tibetans agreed in sending us their texts which we have published.
As for your conclusion on our supposed dismissed engagement in support of the Satyagraha movement, I'd like to reassure you that we have never been as convinced as now about the dramatic importance of a Satyagraha movement for freedom of Tibet and for democracy in China. The fact is that we truly think that the action taken by Nirmala Despande and some other people in India does not correspond to what we call satyagraha, mainly according to our gandhian vision of such a movement and to the necessity that such a movement have to be organized worldwide and have to be supported by the tibetan government in exile.
I hope that now there is no room for other misundersting and that we can continue to cooperate for Freedom for Tibet and Democracy for China.
I have to admit your letter to be quite a beginning of contribution to the debate on Satyagraha we are working on. I would then appreciate if you could develop your remarks so that all the readers of TibetChina fax can take into account your opinions.
