To the kind attention of
Mrs Lotte Leicht, Human Rights Watch
Mrs Marike Radstaake, Amnesty International
Brussels, 28 October 1997
Dear friends,
enclosed you will find the motion for a resolution on Nagaland I tabled together with my colleague Karl Habsburg-Lothringen in the last plenary session of the European Parliament.
Unfortunatelly, after the Sub-Commission on Human Rights decided to put the resolution on the agenda, a majority of the political coordinators decided to withdraw it from the agenda.
As you could see in the draft enclosed, the resolution was quite soft (except regarding Burma).
Also because I was told that both Amnesty and Human Rights Watch were against that resolution, I would like to know wether that's true and if yes, what are the elements on which you are based to have such a opinion.
Kind regards,
Olivier Dupuis
