SUBJECT. 1998 EUROPEAN LEVEL COMMEMORATION OF MARCH 10, 1959
Dear Friends:
We are pleased to invite you to Paris, France for the 1998 European level commemoration of the March 10, 1959 uprising in Lhasa. As you know, previous European level commemorations were held in Brussels (1996) and Geneva (1 997).
In 1998, since the 10th of March fails on a Tuesday, we have agreed that the commemoration in Paris will be held on Sunday, March 8, 1998.
An association "Tibet 98" has been established in France to help coordinate the details at the local level. Attached is a letter from Mr. Gilbert Leroy, "Tibet 98" President, inviting you to the first European coordination meeting on Saturday, January 10, 1998 in Paris. We hope to see you then.
The success of this commemoration as is the case with the Tibet cause depends greatly on the active participation and cooperation amongst ourselves. At this crucial time for Tibet, it is more important now than ever that we combine our energies.
We look forward to your participation in the preparations as well as the commemoration itself.
The Bureau du Tibet, Pads will be organising a European level Tibet Support Group delegates' conference on Saturday, March 7, 1998. The last such conference was held in 1994 in Norway. This office will be sending you additional information regarding this meeting as details are confirmed. At this conference, we hope to form some common goals and develop a coordinated European strategy towards these goals.
What's confirmed are the dates for the Conference and Commemoration. So, for now, please mark your calendars for Paris In 1998.
With best wishes and Happy Holidays!
