Honorable MP Mr Paul Flynn,

It is with real pleasure that I get in touch with you for the first time, although I have been following your activities in your country on the drugs legalization issue with great interest, support and admiration.

As member of the European Parliament and Secretary General of the Transnational Radical Party, I have been supporting the antiprohibitionist cause in the institution and in the civil society, participating twice to the civil disobedience demonstrations in Rome with Marco Pannella.

My party is active on the legalization of drugs issue since more than 20 years: the last event we organized was last December, when in the EP we sponsored the "Anti-prohibitionist Days", with the participation of antiprohibitionist supporters from various european countries and namely Emma Bonino, EU Commissioner, and George Papandreou, Minister of Greece for EU Affairs and different MPs and MEPs.

The debate about drugs policies concerns all European States but also Europe as a whole, and the antiprohibitionist movement is again very lively, with events taking place all over Europe. That is true for the prohibitionists too, with an increasing repression against the antiprohibitionist debate and supporters. I think we have to be ready to face the next important international happening: the UN Conference about the revision of the Drugs Conventions of June.

In order to talk about the current situation in Europe and about possible common antiprohibitionist activities in Europe and in the United Kingdom, it would be a real pleasure for me to have the opportunity to meet you and, if you consider it opportune, with other friends or colleagues of yours, in London, next Wednesday. I would be accompanied by Riccardo Mosca, councillor of the commissioner Bonino for drugs issues.
