Dear Rochelle,
It is with big surprise that we have received three copies of CIAL newsletter. There are a few reasons why we are surprised but only one seems to us important: the coalition on the esperanto question was founded by four organizations: the UEA, the Transnational Radical Party, WFM and the Temple of Understangind.
Our experience as members of NGO coalitions tells us that such networks have steering committees and that those groups make decisions regarding the strategy of the whole coalition, its meetings and publication.
Today not only we learn that such a Coalition is publishing a newsletter, but also that it is convening a meeting this June in conjunction with the 1998 session of the Committee on NGO, which by the way meets May 18-29.
Moreover, we have noted that there is no mention as to where CIAL has its offices, and we find regrettable that the publication has been released without further conversations with us, and that it is edited by Jim Medrano, someone never mentioned in our meetings.
Indeed, right because we support the adoption of an International Auxiliary Language by the UN, we don't think we can accept the procrastination of the unfortunate misunderstandings that seems to escape to some founding members of CIAL, and ask further clarification about the whole thing.
We look forward to your reply. Best regards
Sincerely,
Marco Cappato Marco PerDuca
