Dear Sirs,
Thank you for sending me the c-mail message about President Milosevic. I return a paper copy duly signed, as I fully support your initiative to have him tried as a war criminal. It is absurd to argue, as some still do, that one must not accuse him of being a war criminal while he is still president of what is left of the Yugoslav Federation. He should know, as should his lieutenants, that the world is watching what they do and that it will not forget. If found guilty, as is highly likely with all the horrors and disasters that he has initiated, from the rape of Vukovar in Croatia to genocide in Bosnia and now Kosovo, Milosevic should be locked away in a tough prison for the rest of his earthly life and perhaps also made to work to help the millions whom he has hurt and injured by his actions.
Your initiative is very timely as lack of action by the European Union and by its American allies has given Milosevic the green light to raze Kosovo and then to continue and repeat his actions in Macedonia and perhaps also in Vojvodina. The explicit threat of his being pursued and then sued as a war criminal might save hundreds if not thousands of lives, and it would also show the millions throughout former Jugoslavia that justice will prevail and their tormentor will be punished.
Yours faithfully,
John Szemerey
