Dear Mr Dupuis,

Your letter of 6 September, 1999 regarding whether Tuvalu intend to adhere to the Treaty of Rome (that established the International Criminal Court) has been handed to me to respond to.

Tuvalu has not considered in detail the Treaty of Rome and would not be able to say with certainty when Tuvalu will ratify the Treaty. The Tuvalu Government, however, support the principles upon which such court is founded.
