Ulaanbaatar, 30 September 1999
Excellency,
I would like to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of August 31, 1999 concerning the International Criminal Court. I was pleased to know from the letter that the Transnational radical Party and the organization No Peace without Justice have launched a worldwide campaign for ratification of the Statute of the Court.
As far as Mongolia is concerned, I wish to inform you that my country supports the establishment of the International criminal Court. Mongolia's position on the issue was recently expressed by the Prime-Minister in his statement at the 54th session of the UN General assembly. My government has the intention to adhere to the Statute of the International criminal Court and some preparatory work is being done in this direction. After completion of all formalities the relevant Mongolian authorities should adopt a formal decision on signing and ratifying the Statute of the Court.
I take this opportunity to wish you every success in your activities.
Sincerely Yours,
Nyamosor Tuya
Minister for External Relations
