Please join this Appeal for Gendhun and verify that your organisation is on the list at the end of this mail. If not, feel free to ask that the name of your association be added. We are writing to celebrities the following letter (you are wellcome to participate and send this letter to celebrities you might know ): We are writing to you to request your support to ask that a delegation of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child visit a Tibetan child and his family, in custody for 5 years. Within days of being recognised by the Dalai Lama as the 11th Panchen Lama (May 14, 1995), 6-year-old Gendhun Choekyi Nyima was kidnapped by the Chinese authorities. In a move without historical precedent, China has designated another child: the son of a chinese Communist Party member, to manipulate him for political purposes. For the past 5 years, Gendhun has undergone a terrible "re-education" under custody. On his 11th birthday, April 25, 2000, he was the world's youngest political prisoner, denied the rights of the
child and freedom of religion. About 150 NGOs, Tibet Support Groups, and celebrities have already signed this Appeal. We vividly thank you for your concern for Gendhun. To support this Appeal, simply respond "yes" to this e-mail and give us your name, title and distinctions.
