Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization
Office of the General Secretary
July 20, 2000
Dear Members,
The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) presents its compliments to you.
Enclosing, I am forwarding you an appeal of the Transnational Radical Party (TRP).
Since 1995, thanks to the TRP, UNPO has been able to use the forum of the United Nations to denounce the cases of violation of justice and desctrucion of lives which were taking place in our respective countries. Now the TRP risks to be formally expelled from the UN. In fact, the Russian Federation has officially requested that the TRP consultative status be withdrawn. In particular the TRP is accused of having given opportunity to speak before the UN Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, to Mr. Akhiad Idigov, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chechen Parliament, and to have proposed an antiprohibitionist reform of national legislation as well as of the International Conventions on Drugs.
As you may know, Chechens are a Member of the UNPO and Mr. Idigov is the Vice President of the UNPO Steering Committee.
A friend in need is a friend indeed. Whenever we were in need TRP helped UNPO and its Members. Now TRP needs our support. Therefore, I kindly ask you to sign the attached appeal and fax it to the numbers given as since November 1999, for instance, the following procedures were introduced to strengthen: soon as possible.
Your sincerely Arkin Alptekin (Interim General Secretary)
