Brussels, 30 November 2000
Dear colleague,
The Radical members of the European Parliament and the Transnational Radical Party are organising a seminar entitled "A new statute of full autonomy for Tibet within three years, or international recognition for the Tibetan government in exile", an objective which the European Parliament included in the resolution adopted on 6 July 2000, and which must now be put on the agenda of our national parliaments. The seminar will be held in the European Parliament on 7 and 8 December.
Around 200 people who support the cause of freedom for Tibet will be taking part in the seminar, and the main speakers will include Wei Jingsheng, the leader of the democratic opposition in China and winner of the European Parliament Sakharov Prize, Thomas Mann, Chairman of the Tibet Intergroup of the EP, Kunzang Yuthok, the representative of the Dalai Lama in Paris, Chime Chhoekyapa, the representative of the Dalai Lama in Budapest, Claude Levenson, sinologist and writer, and the Belgian Senators Georges D'Allemagne and Josi Dubié.
You are warmly invited to take part in the proceedings of the seminar.
Yours sincerely,
Olivier Dupuis
PS. This invitation also extends to functionaries of the European Parliament and of the political groups, as well as to parliamentary assistants and attachés.
