(NOTIZIE RADICALI NO. 290, November 16, 1976)

Rome, November 16 - Deputy Marco Pannella has released the following declaration:

The Agnelli family of FIAT has now unofficially entered the lists to defend the rapacious capitalist multinational project that is behind the criminal agreement for an industrial free zone in Carso. They have done it this morning with an attack in the pages of "Paese Sera", an attack founded on the crudest lies and falsifications. We will immediately bring charges of continued, aggravated defamation against this sheet specialised in the regime's denigrations of the Radicals. We do not know if "Paese Sera" has yet been officially purchased by the family that already controls "La Stampa", "La Repubblica", and "L'Espresso"; but they have certainly sold themselves to them if they have recourse to the latest falsifications in allying themselves with those who defend capitalist interests and an operation which will bring about an ecological, financial, cultural and industrial disaster in Trieste and a good part of Venezia Giulia.

The PCI [Communist Party] has to be very careful not to go too far in this operation where they are allied with the top levels of the regime and the financial and multinational worlds against the population of the Trieste area, be it Italian or Slovenian, who they are trying to control with the violence of lies and disinformation. We hope that in the dispute at least a minimum of honesty and correctness will be maintained.

The Radical Parliamentary group furthermore denounces the significant refusal of the president of the Chamber's Foreign Affairs Commission to make publicly known the development of the Commission's work on Osimo in the required way foreseen in the Chamber's norms. They also denounce the regime's censorship of all serious information and debate on this issue on the RAI-TV, a "public service", leaving it to Telecapodistria and foreign radio broadcasters. To this effect we will raise a protest today in the Vigilance Commission.
