Subject: Checks on arms trading and exports

What measures has the Commission taken to ensure effective checks on and, possibly, to authorize exports of military equipment from the Community directly or indirectly to the Middle East?

If it has taken no such measures, does it intend to equip itself with the means to carry out such checks?

Did any European companies beak the embargo against Iraq after 2 August 1990?

Does the Commission have a list of all the EC companies which have exported military equipment or materials wich could be used to make armaments, even if this was done legally?
