Ideas of Follow-Up initiatives

On Debt

The outcome of the Conference will have to be followed by concrete actions in several parliaments of the World. Parlamentarians for Global Action will make a detailed Report of the Roundtable, initiative discussion with policy makers round the world, and coordinate parliamentary activities.

Preceeding the G.7 Summit in London, Parlamentarians for Global Action will form a delegation to visit Prime Ministry and Finance Ministers in London, Bonn, Paris and the Hague to present their comprehensive plan for African debt relief. Follow-up missions will be sent to the UN-Session on African Recovery, the follow-up of the Maastricht Conference and the Annual IMF/WB Meeting.

On Democracy

To set up an African Group of Members of Parliament who could form an African Task Force:

* to monitor democratic developments in Africa

* to function as a body to exchange views and discuss experiences and cooperate with the Global Coalition for Africa

* to prepare input of Parlamentarians in the conomic, policy-making of African nations (especially regarding issues of debt and adjustement policies)

* to be called upon to monitor the elation process from assessment of poitical conditions, to registration through ballotting and counting.

PGA will seek to actively form a group of Parlamentarians who can pursue these activities. Furthermore, a budget will be prepared and it should be discussed how adequate funding for these activities can be secured.
