BELGIUM

Alexandre DE PERLINGHI: Elected member

First joined the Radical Party in 1983, author of a video on the history of the Radical Party. Cooperates with the Radical members of the European Parliament. He stood as a candidate at the last European elections in the lists of the lay federation in Italy thanks to a law submitted to Parliament by the Radical MPs which extends the right to passive electorate to non-Italian citizens of the EEC countries.

Olivier DUPUIS: Member by right

Total conscientious objector, willingly gave himself up to the Belgian police in October 1985 and served an 11-month sentence in the prison of Saint Gilles. Responsible for the French edition of Radical News. He has organized and participated in several nonviolent and antitotalitarian demonstrations in the countries of Eastern Europe, and for such initiatives was expelled from Czechoslovakia and

BURKINA FASO

Basile GUISSOU: member by right

Sociologist and expert in problems connected to the development of the African countries.

Elected Vice Secretary of the Radical Party at the meeting of the federal Council in Jerusalem in October 1988. Active in the battle for the right to life and the life of rights in the African continent.

Foreign Minister during the Sankara administration; following the coup d'ètat of 1987, whereby Blaise Compaoré came into into power, he was imprisoned and tortured. He was released thanks to the intervention of the Radical Party and especially of Marco Pannella. Member of the Radical Party since when he was foreign minister of his country, he has participated directly in the initiatives against world hunger, and more than once has taken part in the marches which the Radical Party organized every year at Easter.
