(THE PARTY new - n. 6 - march 1992)

The Radical Party is holding a Congress in Rome from 29 April to 3 May. It will be a Congress open to democrats, parliamentarians and ordinary citizens who want to campaign for the abolition of the death penalty before the year 2000; who want to build a United States of Europe; who favour an antiprohibitionist drugs policy; who want to uphold the right to language and the right of peoples throughout the world to communicate; who want to defeat nationalism and militarism.

It will be a Congress for all those people who believe they can, and must, uphold not only "national" priorities but also a further value expressed in the creation of a new nonviolent, lay, democratic, federalist political force.

It will also be a refoundation Congress: each member, each person who participates in our project must be able to operate, whether it is in Baku or London, Lima or Paris, with a maximum degree of autonomy and freedom. It is therefore of great importance that we equip ourselves with a statute capable, by hinging on direct membership, of determining the mode, or modes, of operation, not only for individuals but also for the associations, national parties and leagues who ask to confederate with the "New Party".

Human rights, freedom, democracy, a right to life and a life of rights: we are certain that these ideas are in accordance with those of the vast minorities on this Earth, with individual consciousness and that of people as a whole; but, we are also certain that on our own we will not be able to implement these ideas politically, or succeed in bringing about the changes we are proposing.

We have no more time left, and we have no more resources: we need tens of thousands of new members throughout the world to permit us to realize our main political project, and all the related projects.
