Special motion regarding the situation of Tasnistria (Republic of Moldavia) presented by Vasile Diaconu (Romania)
Profoundly preoccupied about the state of tension in the area to the left of the Nistro in the Republic of Moldavia and for the threat that this tension represents to the process of democratization in the Republic of Moldavia and in the whole region and
Welcoming the diplomatic efforts made by the Republic of Moldavia, by the Russian Federation and Ukraine to find a solution to the conflict which conforms to the principles stated in the documents of the Conference for Security and Cooperation in Europe,
The 36th Congress of the Radical Party
1. Expresses its solidarity with the Republic of Moldavia in its efforts to preserve its sovereignty, its independence and its territorial integrity in the historic and ethnic space of its national fulfillment.
2. Condemns the attempts by certain conservative and reactionary powers in the Republic of Moldavia, powers which work to the left of the Nistro, whose intention is to restore the comunist structures, the dictatorship and even the re-constitution of the ex-Soviet empire.
3. Calls the citizens living in the area to the left of the Nistro in the Republic of Moldavia to not be deceived by the demagogy of the separatist and comunist powers and to act to bring back the stability of right and constitutional order .
4. Calls, also, to the government of the Russian Federation to ensure the suspension of any military and financial support to the separatist powers, the withdrawal of the Kossacs from Trasnistria as well as the adoption of stern measure for the non-involvement of the Fourteenth Army in the said conflict until its full withdrawal from the territory of the Republic of Moldavia.
5. Appeals to the governments of Romania, of the Russian Federation and of Ukraine to continue their diplomatic efforts, in conjunction with those of the government of the Republic of Moldavia, in order to find a long term peaceful solution to the problems that are preoccupying the citizens of Trasnistria.
6. Asks the government of the Republic of Moldavia to take the necessary measures to guarantee economic, social and cultural rights and the political freedom for all the citizens of the Republic, including, therefore, those belonging to the national minorities in accordance with the standards stated in the documents of the Conference for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
