ABSTRACT: Savater says he will renew his membership because the party's transnational character "allows to work with people of different nationalities".
(1994 - IL QUOTIDIANO RADICALE, 9 November 1993)
The world is ever tragically suffering the consequences of divisions and senselessness. Nationalist extremism, deplorable racism, the myth of the national identity as opposed to the common humanity...all that separates and opposes seems to have become a fashion. Instead of solving the real problems, the governments invent other fake ones, such as that of drugs, a fake problem because it arises from the efforts to solve it...
In 1994 I will renew my membership to the Radical Party because its transnational character allows to work together with people of different nationalities, an example that should be followed by the rest of the political groups. And also because the radicals pose material problems at the world level, such as the depenalization of drugs or the total abolition of the death penalty, which other more conventional parties disregard or minimize.
