The plague-spreader has a name: prohibition
by Luigi Cerina - President of the National Coordination of HIV-affected persons

(from a speech delivered at the International Conference on AIDS, Florence June 16th 1991)

ABSTRACT: With its attitude the Catholic Church is one of the causes of the mass deaths caused by AIDS in Africa and in the areas of the world where sexual information and condom distribution are prevented. In places where the "prohibitionist ideology" has not been applied, as in Amsterdam, the spread of the epidemic is very limited. "90% of our victims have therefore been murdered". Hence the accusation against the "pseudo-liberal usurpers" and the "anti-homosexual racism".

(1994 - IL QUOTIDIANO RADICALE - 8 December 1993)

"The designated victims of AIDS before the end of the decade are dozens of millions. This is thanks to the sex phobic terrorism that prevented sexual, medical and hygienic information (and the massive distribution of condoms and relative instructions) from being supplied in Africa and in some areas of the Far East to the affected populations, in the name of chastity or an indiscriminate procreation.

The majority of Italian HIV-positives or AIDS patients are Catholics. Therefore, all the more reason for scandal and grief in the face of the attitude of the Roman ecclesiastic body, which represents the most important establishment that upholds the established, exterminating and blasphemous order.

We accuse the prohibitionist ideology as a criminal and exterminating ideology. In places where this ideology, which has been adopted also by the United Nations and by the vast majority of states, has not been applied or has been re-considered with an attitude of tolerance, less than 8% of drug users - namely un Amsterdam - has been affected by the virus. In Italy and anywhere else prohibition has been applied or been dominant, up to 70% of drugs users are HIV+ or have already developed AIDS. Ninety percent of our victims, therefore, have been murdered, not because of the deadliness of a virus we need to fight, but because of an ideology, a pseudo-morality, a combination of criminal interests that represent the accelerating factor of AIDS-related death.

We accuse the pseudo-liberal usurpers that practice a national and social policy based on the genocide of the poor in the ghettoes of the Northern American megacities, as in the favelas and in the bidonvilles of the cities of Latin America and the Third World, as well as for the lack of services, the squandering of public money, and the inadequate amount of money allocated for these problems in countries such as ours, Italy. We accuse the anti-homosexual racism of so many parts of the world, which has long crucified homosexuals as perverted or sick people. By condemning sexual life outside marriage and procreation as an infamity and forcing it to clandestinity, condemning drug use, homosexuality and poverty, the virus has been given an artificial deadly virulence... We launch our "j'accuse" in the name of reason, morality and order, in the name of the right to life and the life of rights (as the motto of the Radical Party, my transnational party, reads), in the name of love, in the name of the respect for ot

her people and of the irrenouncable principles of freedom and responsibility, of a correct information which allows to choose and rule democratically..."
