Please find enclosed your Radical Party membership card for 1994. Your decision to enrol and contribute has been invaluable, providing hope and concrete support for Radical ideas, but our efforts have only just begun: there are still only just over 4,000 of us in the world, compared to the 40,000 members in 1993. This means an income of 1.3 billion lire so far this year, compared to 13 billion lire last year.

These bare figures are sufficient to understand that the survival of the Radical Party will once again be threatened, very soon, if we do not manage, in the coming weeks and months, to attract many more members and find new sources of income for our initiatives and our ideas.

In this attempt, we will be helped by the successes we have managed to obtain, with great tenacity, over the last few months. First of all the decision of the V Commission of the United Nations to allocate 11.5 million dollars for the running during the current year of the Tribunal on the crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia. We have to thank Olivier Dupuis and the over 300 citizens from twenty countries who, through their hunger strike and dialogue with the members of the V Commission of the United Nations, contributed to the achievement of this objective. The first fragment of the binding international law that we want to see established as soon as possible with the institution of an International Criminal Tribunal. It will be a long and difficult campaign, which we intend to extend in Italy and throughout the world with the constitution of a international committee entitled "There is no peace without justice", which we invite you to support immediately. The committee has already been given support by

hundreds of mayors and leading figures from the world of the arts who took part in the Easter March, sponsored by the mayors of Rome and Sarajevo, the Radical Party, and "Hands Off Cain" - the campaign of parliamentarians and citizens for the abolition of the death penalty by the year 2000 - on the objectives of the International Criminal Court and a universal moratorium on executions. Together with the project on the issue of Aids, the denouncement of the international conventions on drugs, the Danube project and the initiatives for the safeguard of the right to language, these will be the campaigns of the Radical Party over the coming months.
