(Moscow, April 6, 1996) - The big rally against war in Chechnya has taken place on Pushkin square in Moscow. It was organized by "JABLOKO" - the Grigorij Javlinskij's party - and other organizations united in the framework of All-Russian Anti-war Action Weeks from March 30 to April 6, including Anti-militarist Radical Association (ARA) which has also joined initiative in spite of the fact that appeal for conscientious objection to Chechen war was not reflected in the platform of Action Weeks.
About 2,000 of people have gathered in the center of Moscow to demonstrate against war and militarism. Following politicians and public activists have made interventions on the rally:

- Nikolaj KHRAMOV, secretary of ARA;

- Sergej JUSHENKOV, MP ("Russia's Democratic Choice");
- Grigorij JAVLINSKIJ, leader of "JABLOKO", candidate to the presidency of Russia;
- Mihail GORBACHEV, ex-president of USSR, candidate to the presidency of Russia;
- Galina STAROVOJTOVA, MP, co-president of Federal Party "Democratic Russia";
- Viktor KUROCHKIN, MP;
- Petr KAZNACHEEV, president of Antifascist Youth Action (AYA);
- Valerija NOVODVORSKAJA, leader of Russian Democratic Union;
- Konstantin BOROVOJ, MP, president of Economical Freedom Party.
