The next intervention represents an interresting overview on the history and roots of the conflict in Chechnya written by Edward Kline, president od Andrey Sakharov Foundation. Although many answers given by Mr. Kline to the Chechnya's challenge look too much old (the text was written more than one year ago, in March 1995), his work in any case would be necessary for all of us, Radicals and antimilitarists who ask now ourselves: what should we do to stop the bloody war in Chechnya, to combat the gross violations of international humanitarian law committed by Russian armed forces? Should we as before to observe silently the war not less horrible than that on the Balkans? Or should we consider - as some of Russian human rights militants - that anti-war struggle in today's Russia must be at the same time a struggle for recognizing the Chechnya's independence and right of Chechen people for self-determination? Or probably we must find a third way between Scilla of Russia's territorial integrity and Haribda of Ch
echen right for self-determination? Another way, based as usually in our battles on the Right to Live and Life of Law, a way expressed in some concrete political proposals of Radical Party and Antimilitarist Radical Association?
Anyway, we should - moreover, we are obliged - to find the prompt answer to this question: soon and together. I sincerely hope that Mr. Kline's text would be able to initiate here a productive discussion between Radicals and not only, a discussion which would be followed by concrete political initiatives proposed by the Transnational Radical Party.
