(Murmansk, May , 1997) - The ROUND TABLE discussion on "Right on education and conscription" has been organized by Murmansk Regional Committee of Soldiers' Mothers. In the discussion have taken part activists of Soldiers' Mothers, members of Murmansk Center for Defence of Human Rights and Liberties, Youth Lawyers' Association of Cola Peninsula, legal experts, officers of military recruitment office and prosecutor's office, professors of private high schools, students, journalists. The main subject of discussion was discrimination of non-state high schools regarding suspension of draft for students.

In her intervention Irina Lupanova, activist of Radical Party and ARA, highlighted the every citizen's constitutional right on conscientious objection, stressing that this is a real way to avoid army barracks for all, including students who are threatened to be drafted into the army just from university bench.
