CIVIL OBEDIENCE CAMPAIGN
News Conference of the Anti-militarist Radical Association (ARA)

News conference starts at 14:00
It is dedicated to the launching of the "Civil Obedience Campaign" initiated by ARA and "Private Case" (Chastnyj Sluchaj) program on TV-6 Moscow channel. The Campaign is aimed on the soonest adoption of a democratic and non-discriminatory law on alternative civilian service. The nearest goal of the Campaign is to achieve the number of 7,000 of applications for alternative civilian service instead of military service in Moscow. Exactly from young Russian citizens depends now the fate of this law.
There will be participating in the news conference:
- Nikolaj KHRAMOV, secretary of ARA;
- Alexander GORDON, director of "Chastnyj Sluchaj" program on TV-6 Moscow;
- Valerij BORSCEV, member of the State Duma (Jabloko), vice president of the Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations, president of ARA;
- Vadim HESSE, conscientious objector, member of ARA secretariat;
- Konstantin LEONOV, ex employer of the State Duma staff, one of the authors of the draft law on alternative civilian service, member of ARA secretariat;
- Valentina MELNIKOVA, member of Coordinating Council of the Russian Committee of Soldiers' Mothers.
