QUESTION: Do you personally need the army?

ANSWER: I personally - as Russian citizen, as a citizen of the world - need effective sovranational armed forces (or police forces, if you want), which would be able to restore violated international law, to stop every potential aggressor - be it Saddam Hussein, Milosevic or someone else. There are no such armed forces now. Better or worse (and more often - worse then better) Americans or NATO tried to fulfil this mission acting according the UN mandate in the Gulf or in Bosnia respectively.

As Russian citizen, I would like to see my country participating by the most active way in creation of this system of international security.

But what the current Russian army (or better to say, still the Soviet army) concerns, I definitely do not need it in its present situation. Because exactly this army represent today one of the most serious threats to national security. As citizens of the country we do not have the army. Instead, the army has us.
