(Moscow, October 6, 1997) -- Today Election Commission 25 for elections to the Moscow City Duma confirmed that ARA Secretary Nikolaj Khramov was nominated for the elections that will take place on December 14. Election district 25 includes Lomonosovskij, Gagarinskij and Akademicheskij districts of the South-West administrative district in Moscow. Together with the Antimilitarist Radical Association Khramov is backed up by the Committee of Soldier's Mothers of Russia. Since tomorrow ARA militants begin collecting signatures. It is necessary to collect 1720 signatures of inhabitants of this district who support Khramov.
As it was reported earlier, next Wednesday, on October 8, when the State Duma discusses the fulfillment of the budget for 1997 and the draft budget for 1998, ARA militants will organize a "religious procession" to Okhotnyj Rjad and will take part in a picket at the State Duma against military expenses that are beyond the strength of Russian economy. Each marcher will carry a big crucifix symbolizing enormous military expenses. At 10 a.m. the procession will start at Parliamentary Center (Tsvetnoj boulevard, 2), passing along Trubnaja square - Petrovskij boulevard - Strastnoj boulevard - Bolshaja Dmitrovka street - Georgievskij pereulok - Tverskaja street as far as Okhotnyj rjad.
Tomorrow, October 7, ARA Secretary and Coordinator of Transnational Radical Party in Russia and in the CIS Nikolaj Khramov will speak at the meeting against the new draft law on the Right to conscience. The meeting is organized by the Committee for Defence of Conscience headed by Duma deputy Valerij Borschev. The meeting will start at 2 p.m. at the main entrance in Gorky Park.
