On the 8-th October, the day when the Prime Minister Victor Chernomyrdin spoke to the deputies of the Lower Chamber of Russian Parliament about the Fulfillment of the State Budget 1997, the movement "Soldiers' mothers of Russia" held a picket at the entrance to the State Duma in Ohotnyj Rjad. Members of the Antimilitarist Radical Association (an association of Radical Party) joined the picket. The demonstrators took part in the picket to protest against enormous military expenses. ARA members brought on their shoulders ten big crucifixes symbolizing the burden of military expenses.
