"NATO, WE ARE WITH YOU!": DEMONSTRATION OF BOROVOJ, KHRAMOV AND NOVODVORSKAJA AT AMERICAN AND BRITISH EMBASSIES
Moscow, March 28, 1999.
Today, on Sunday, just few hours after gun shooting the American Embassy on Novinsky boulevard by an unknown person, three Russian politicians have carried out demonstration of solidarity with American and NATO action in Yugoslavia at US embassy in Moscow. In the demonstration have participated: Nikolaj Khramov, secretary of Antimilitarist Radical Association (ARA) and Russian coordinator of Radical Party; Konstantin Borovoj, deputy of the State Duma, president of Party of Economic Freedom (PES), member of Radical Party and member of General Council of ARA; Valerija Novodvorskaja, leader of Democratic Union. Demonstrators have reached the American embassy and lifted the American Stars & Stripes flag and banner with inscription: "NATO, we are with you!". The militia immediately interfered and demanded to stop demonstration and drive away. In fifteen minutes the same action with British Union Jack was carried out at the embassy of Great Britain on Sofijskaja quay.
Statement of participants of the demonstration:
``We have carried out this action to demonstrate our solidarity with action being undertaken by America and other NATO countries in Yugoslavia: today, like more than half-century back, America again stands in avant guard of struggle against nazism - this time against red-brown nazism of Milosevic. We have made it also to express our protest as citizens of Russia against anti-American, antiwestern campaign conducted by communist government Primakov and by Russian mass-medias, against outrage of red-brown pogrom makers at the American embassy, against a real impenetrable information blockade concerning those who does not wish to be poured in uniform anti-American chorus of fascists, communists and, alas, a significant part of "democrats".
At the same time, we declare once more again, that it is impossible to solve the problem of Milosevic only by military means. The national-communist regime in Belgrade should be overthrown. For this purpose it is necessary to issue against the Serbian dictator as soon as possible from Hague tribunal an official indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity accomplished on his indications and under his leadership since 1991.
Konstantin BOROVOJ, Nikolaj KHRAMOV, Valerija NOVODOVORSKAJA.''
