On Tuesday, August 10, regional presentation of the petition campaign "The third millennium without conscription slavery" will take place in Tula.
This campaign was launched by the Radical Party and the Antimilitarist Radical Association (ARA) on May, 21 1999. Its object is to collect by January 2000 50.000 signatures of Russian citizens under the petition, addressed to the next State Duma, appealing to abolish the compulsory military service and to pass to an entirely professional voluntary basis of remanning the Russian Armed Forces.
The presentation will take place in Tula in the local "Dom Uchitelya" (Teacher's Club), ul. Mendeleeva, 2, at 6:00 p.m., with participation of Nikolai Khramov, Russian co-ordinator of the Radical Party and ARA Secretary, and Eduard Pashchenko, ex Duma deputy from Tula ("Vybor Rossii" - "The Choice of Russia").
