"KNOWLEDGE DAY - 99":

THE COLLECTION OF SIGNATURES AMONG STUENTS AND UNIVERSITY TEACHERS UNDER THE PETITION OF THE RADICAL PARTY AND THE ARA "THE THIRD MILLENNIUM WITHOUT CONSCRIPTION SLAVERY" WILL BE HELD SIMULTANEOUSLY IN MOSCOW, LIPETSK AND VOLGOGRAD. LEADERS OF THE MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY PROHIBIT TO COLLECT ON THEIR TERRITORY SIGNATURES FOR THE ABOLITION OF CONSCRIPTION SLAVERY. ONE CHEKOV'S CHARACTER SAID: "YOURS IS NOT A TEMPLE OF SIENCE, BUT A RURAL DEAN'S BOARD, HERE IT STINKS OF SOUR STAFF AS IN A POLICE-BOX...".

On Wednesday, September 1, when the new school year begins - traditionally celebrated in Russia as "Knowledge Day" - by initiative of the Transnational Radical Party and the Antimilitarist Radical Association (ARA) in several Russian cities there will be simultaneous manifestations opening the collection of signatures under the petition "The third millennium without conscription slavery" among students and university teachers.

In Moscow the radicals are going to place their stall since 9:45 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. near the Moscow State Humanitarian University (RGGU), Chayanova street, 15.

In Lipetsk the manifestation will take place near the Lipetsk Faculty of the All-Russian Extra-mural Financial-Economic Institute (Internatsional'naya street, 126) since 3:00 p.m.

In Volgograd the pickets for collecting signatures will start at 8:00 a.m. in three points:

1. Volgograd Academy of State Service (Gagarina street, 8);

2. Volgograd State pedagogical Institute (Lenin prospekt, 27);

3. Volgograd Technical University.

As far as Moscow is concerned, originally the collection of signatures was planned to be held near the Main Building of the Moscow State University (MGU), at Vorob'evy gory. However, the notification presented by the radicals at Ramenki Municipal Council, that includes MGU territory, has been rejected - for MGU leaders have banned on their territory the collection of signatures under the petition for the abolition of conscription slavery. The letter, signed by the Counsellor of the Rector Mr. Ju.P. Zinchenko, says that "on the territory and in the buildings of the Moscow University any activity of the parties and their blocks is unlawful".

Alas! Banning the collection of signatures under the petition to the State Duma for the abolition of conscription and the transition to a professional army, the leaders of the Moscow University once again make actual the words of a famous Chekov's character: "Yours is not a temple of science, but a rural dean's board, here it stinks of sour staff as in a police-box...".
