Moscow, April 25, 2000 - On April 25 at 12:00 the sitting of the cassation collegium of the Moscow City Court (presided by the judge Lunina) has been held to examine the cassation protest of the Tushinsky Interregional Public Prosecutor's Office against the sentence of "not guilty" pronounced by the Tushinsky Regional Court on the criminal case of Vasily Bazhenov. In the course of the sitting the public prosecutor Chervyakova has declared that the Moscow City Public Prosecutor's Office doesn't support the protest.

The cassation collegium has decided to reject the protest of the Tushinsky Interregional Public Prosecutor's Office and not to change the sentence of "not guilty" pronounced by the Tushinsky Regional Court in respect of Vasily Bazhenov.

On March 23 the Tushinsky Intermunicipal Court of Moscow (judge Elena Nikitina) has acquited for the lack of corpus delicti the member of the Radical Party and the ARA Vasily Bazhenov, accused of "evading the military service" according to Art. 328.1 of the Russian Criminal Code.
