Two members of the italian Parliament, in town to make a point about curbing AIDS among drug addicts, were able to get themselves arrested on the steps of City Hall yesterday.
The arrest came after they failed to get inside ti present Mayor N. David Dinkins with a set of clean hypodermic needles.
The incident begin at about 10 a.m. when the two, Emma Bonino, 43, and Marco Taradash, 40, went to Health Commissioner Woodrow Myers' office on Worth St. and asked to be arrested.
"But the police officer at the door wouldn't arrest them" said their lawyer John Soroko.
The two pulled out a second set of needles and went to City Hall. They asked another police officer to either let them in to see the mayor, or to arrest them.
"After an hour, they were finally arrested", said Soroko.
