A delegation of the European Cities on Drug Policy (ECDP) is actually visiting the USA in order to present the Frankfurt Resolution and the harm reduction policy. Werner Schneider, spokesperson of the ECDP Coordination Bureau, and Sebastian Popp, office assistant, will meet next week the mayors and the police chiefs of Oakland, San José, Berkeley e San Francisco. The delegation will also meet city officials and politicians in Chicago, New Haven, Baltimore and other East Coast cities next month. The visit is coordinated with the Drug Policy Foundation (DPF) and the International Antiprohibitionist League (IAL).
In California, press conferences and public meetings are already scheduled. Also, the San Francisco International Drug Reform Conference will be held in San Francisco (Fort Mason Firehouse, 12-5 pm) on Saturday August 21-with W. Schneider (ECDP), B. Parrella (IAL) and spokenspersons of the DPF and the California Drug Policy Reform Coalition.
Recent activities of the ECDP also include a meeting with the mayor of the city of Frankfurt a.M. and Ed Giacomelli, UN Executive Director and Deputy General Secretary. At the end of this interesting information-exchange on international drug policy, Mr. Giacomelli invited representatives of the city of Frankfurt as well as of the ECDP to attend the next "Cities World Conference" in Macao (November 3 1993).
Finally, several representative of european cities and organisations involved in the harm reduction policy will attend the "Translatantic Cities Conference on the Harm Reduction Policy" (Baltimore, November 16-17) and the "7th International Conference of the Drug Policy Foundation" (Washington, November 17-20)-their results will be presented and discussed at the "4th Frankfurt Conference", in Hamburg, November 30-December 3, 1993.
