-Surgeon-General's Son Held on Drug Charge-
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (AP)-The son of Surgeon-General Joycelyn Elders surrendered to police Monday on a charge that he sold cocaine to undercover agents. The son, Kevin Elders, 28, is accused of selling an eight of an ounce of cocaine to undercover police on July 29 for $275.
The police issued a warrant for his arrest last week, a week after Mr.Elders's mother said legalizing drugs could reduce the country's crime rate and suggested that the government study the idea.
In a terse statement Friday, Dr.Elders said she supported her son.
