Subject: pr suggestion: 'opening' the Global Days
Dear organisers,
Here are a few pr suggestions.
To those of you who have scheduled an event on Friday,
I would like to suggest that you officially declare
the Global Days against the Drug War 'opened' at the
beginning or at the end of your event.
This goes for events in Paris, Moscow, Jena, Fort Lauderdale,
Bilbao, Irunea, Norwich.
Organisers of events on later days might want to consider
having a special opening ceremony on Friday as well; e.g.
we'll have one in Amsterdam (a wreath-laying ceremony).
If you can get the press to report about this, it will
help gettign media attention for your main event.
A purpose of the openings also is that this allows a few
new lines of text highlighting them, in our last round of
press releases which will be sent out this week.
Which leads me to the point of press releases:
it is important to send out (an updated version of)
your press releases at least two days before your event!
With a new title and subtitle, such as:
"Global Days against the Drug War open on Friday June 5th
100 organisations unite - events in 55 cities to criticise UN drugs session"
I'll post a new version of the general press release later.
Best regards,
Harry Bego
