BRUSSELS, April 19 (Reuter) - European Union Fisheries Commissioner Emma Bonino will fly to Rabat on Monday for a third round of talks to try and conclude a new fisheries accord, a Commission spokesman said.
"There are still major differences," the spokesman said.
Morocco wants a 50 percent cut in the number of vessels and reductions of between 30 and 65 percent in fish catches, depending on the type of fish, in order to save stocks.
"We understand the principle of adjusting catch volumes but Morocco is demanding too much...it will be very tough," the spokesman added.
The EU is trying to strike a deal before the current accord, which allows 716, mainly Spanish, EU vessels to fish in Morocco's Atlantic waters, expires at the end of April.
