| MEPs warn Fokker's woes are sign of the timesSTRASBOURG, Feb 16 (Reuter) - MEPs criticised European Union industry ministers on Friday for not trying to find an EU-wide solution to restore the EU aircraft industry's competitiveness. "The near collapse of (the Dutch plane maker) Fokker is a warning signal for the state of the European aerospace industry," the European Parliament said in a joint resolution tabled by five of the assembly's eigth political groups. The resolution urges the European Commission to come up with an industrial strategy for the European aircraft industry and find ways to improve cooperation between European manufacturers. This was needed "to strengthen and restore competitiveness and safeguard technological development and jobs" in the industry, MEPs said. The parliament said it was alarmed by the European aircraft industry's substantial loss of market share to international competitors, especially the U.S..
