PHNOM PENH, Aug 5 (Reuter) - European Union Commissioner Emma Bonino flew to Cambodia on Monday to look at humanitarian projects sponsored by the EU. "It's mostly an assessment mission," Bonino told Reuters on arrival from Thailand. She added that the EU had invested six million Ecus ($7.7 million) in humanitarian projects alone in 1995. "I wanted to see the result of it," she said, adding that she wanted to meet non-governmental organisations as she was preparing the 1997 aid budget for Cambodia. Bonino, who is the Consumer Affairs Commissioner, said much of this money had been set aside for clearing the country of an estimated six million mines. She is due to leave for India on Tuesday.
